ABOUT ME

Picture
I have always loved cars. When I was young my Dad worked on & painted cars in our garage - two of which I remember the most were a 69 Corvette with Can Am flares & a 71 Pantera. That was around the time that I got envolved with drawing auto illustrations. I drew alot like the auto t-shirt designs Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth did in the late 60s & early 70s, with the smokin tires & big engines. Alot of my inspiration came from my Dad, Hot Wheels both me & my brother collected & plastic models we built. We had a large collection of both Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars between us.

After being reunited with our old Hot Wheels collection after so many years, I started collecting seriously in 1996. Within a few years I had a very large Hot Wheels collection, including other diecast manufacturers like Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Muscle Machines & Jada. Of course my favorites have always been the old ones like in my childhood collection - Flying Colors & Super Chromes. I always loved building plastic models & collecting Hot Wheels cars, but I wanted something more - which brought me into customizing diecast cars. It became alot more challenging finding my own parts & using my imagination to finish them.

I got so envolved with collecting that I started attending some of the conventions & it wasn't long until I entered into my first custom contest. At my 2nd convention in 2003 I won Honorable Mention & soon I very quickly climbed the ladder of success in the customizing field. I was able to win two 1st Place Ameteur trophies in 2006 & a 1st Place Pro trophy in 2008. Last year I attended a convention in 'Hotlanta' & won 4 medals in the custom contest & my very first winning custom - the Surfin Semi Bus - ended up winning best of show. I have been customizing for 10 years now & still love it.
